Entitled \u2018<em>Packaging for a more sustainable world<\/em>\u2019, the event highlighted the ever-growing demands of the consumer for smarter and more sustainable packaging and the need for brand owners and their packaging converters to be able to react to and anticipate future changes.<\/p>\n<p>Keynote speakers included Dr Benjamin Punchard, Global Packaging Insights Director at Mintel who highlighted the need for more innovative packaging solutions to enable waste-conscious consumers to play their part in reducing food waste, which currently stands at 2 billion tonnes a year.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.metaprintart.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/STB_0422_press_image_small.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft  wp-image-17709\" src=\"http:\/\/www.metaprintart.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/STB_0422_press_image_small.jpg\" alt=\"STB_0422_press_image_small\" width=\"256\" height=\"170\" \/><\/a>Dr Punchard noted changing consumer perceptions with 61% of consumers now more aware of the food they waste, with 60% unhappy with this wastage.
