Rainbow² is the digital module with analog line finishing designed and built by DG Italia, which can be integrated with any traditional printing line. The inkjet module integrates an automatic print head cleaning system.
Rainbow2 is a digital line complete with corona treatment and web cleaning system, 4-colors + white printing, in line with flexo printing, cold lamination system, semi-rotating die-cutting and double-rewind shaft.
With this installation, a partnership between the two companies has mainly opened, and DG Italia, thanks to the collaboration of Poligrafica, will be able to show the system in action to potential Italian and above all foreign customers. Several visits are already scheduled before and after LabelExpo.
We asked Marcello Pasinetti and Fabio Facchinetti, owners of Poligrafica, how they came to the decision to buy this innovative system, but not yet known on the market.

Poligrafica is a printing company which has chosen to be at the forefront in integrating innovative digital printing technologies with traditional offset printing, simplifying solutions that require variability for any type of printing in an economical and rapid way.
Recently it has decided to rely on the expertise of Cosma Roberto Vercelloni, DG Italia, in the field of variable data printing, thus creating a partnership, which allows the company of Dalmine to expand its solutions in the fields of label printing and flexible packaging.
This installation allows DG Italia to have a point of reference for interested customers, who will be able to see the machine in operation at the Dalmine plant: a high-productivity line associated with an advantageous price for both the machine and the consumables.
The inkjet printing systems of the Impronta line of DG Italia allow variable data to be printed both in black (or spot color) and in color, with simple or complex layouts, in line with narrow and medium web printing machines, offset, flexo, typographic.
Printing systems can also be inserted in line on finishing equipment (control tables, sheet feeders, packaging lines, etc.).
In particular, Full Color Rainbow printing systems are available in different print widths from 108 mm to 324 mm (in the UV version) and from 108 mm to 432 mm (in the WB version).
A dedicated arch structure allows integration with the guarantee of the best possible quality.
Rainbow² uses Kyocera’s DOD piezo electric variable drop inkjet technology from 30kHz (UV) and 40kHz (WB) and can print on a wide range of non-porous supports, including plastic films, aluminum, and other media. It uses water-based UV inks, both LED and with conventional lamps, in four-color with the option of spot color, paint and opaque white.
The printing speed is variable depending on the print resolution, for example at 600×600 dpi at about 75 meters per minute.
Rainbow² is a highly configurable system to allow printing of a wide variety of variable data (numbering, mailing, 1D and 2D barcodes, bills, marketing-to-one,) with very low printing costs.
