How marketing was born and developed at PRATI srl, a key player in the self-adhesive label supply chain.
“I must give up what I am to become what I want to be.” — Albert Einstein
Daniela Binario, a former colleague and journalist in the printing and packaging sector, is now Communication Manager at PRATI srl. Her background in journalism makes her communication initiatives distinctly innovative. Let’s discover the “Daniela method” together.
‒ Daniela, can you tell me more about this project? How did it come about?
D.B. ‒ I start from the belief that, to achieve any objective or goal, the contribution of every member of the team is essential, at every level. The success of any trade fair also depends on those who usually remain behind the scenes, yet contribute in countless ways. That is why, at Labelexpo Europe 2025, alongside our philosophical cards ‒ updated with new quotes ‒ we wanted to “exhibit” a new project: the expression of a journey undertaken together as a team.
I was inspired by a quote from Malala Yousafzai: “One child, one teacher, one book, one pen can change the world”, to which I like to add a BOOKMARK. Because if you “Mark a Book”, especially when it is done by a member of TEAM PRATI, you create something meaningful.
MPA ‒ So, not just gadgets?
D.B. ‒ Exactly. The ‘bookmarks’ we brought to life are also the expression of a wonderful initiative in which many of us at PRATI decided to take the plunge and share a part of ourselves with the wider world by choosing a quote from a book. Once again, the energy of the group was transformed into something tangible thanks to our DIGI COMPACT, which, in a roll-to-stack configuration, produced the Prati Galaxy bookmarks, printed with the support of Konica Minolta Business Solutions Italia.
MPA ‒ Why do you consider them unique?
D.B. ‒ Because each piece of this puzzle is unique ‒ in its content, colors, graphics and words ‒ but above all, each one represents a member of the team and the wonderful encounters we have had within the company. It quickly became clear that there was a common thread uniting everyone; in our case, it was the theme of travel. To represent Prati People, I chose a quote attributed to Augustine of Hippo (Saint Augustine), as it perfectly symbolises the team experience and can now travel the world: “The measure of love is to love without measure. The world is like a book, and those who do not travel read only one page.”
MPA ‒ It’s clear that, for PRATI, a trade fair is not just about showcasing machines and new products. I would call it a salon, where customers ‒ and visitors more generally ‒ are invited to discover and learn more.
D.B. ‒ And to share. A place where the stand becomes a bridge to innovation, such as the latest preview unveiled at Labelexpo 2025: SATURN NEXT ‒ the smart inspection table that represents a new standard in finishing quality control. Fully automated and enclosed within its own shell, it protects its intellectual capabilities, just like the human brain.
MPA ‒ You said that when you conceived this initiative, you didn’t think it was new. Yet it clearly is, and it has been widely appreciated. How did the idea come to you?
D.B. ‒ The idea grew out of my love for books ‒ books that teach us, that help us see even what sometimes remains invisible. From the outset, I wanted to involve the TEAM, because within the company we are like pieces of a mosaic: different, unique, yet all essential in shaping the whole. The quotes collected during this journey were also published as A4 inserts, created for the Labelexpo Europe special issue of DIGITAL LABELS & PACKAGING. Then there are the “philosophical cards”, constantly updated, which over time have also welcomed contributions from PRATI’s external collaborators.
MPA ‒ And tomorrow?
D.B. ‒ What truly matters is the journey, more than the meta: the path, the companions who share it, and the courage to turn one’s life into a work of art. As Augustine of Hippo said, “Truth is in love.”
This is the common thread of PRATI’s journey and, as I realise today, also my own personal common thread.
During my travels from Milan to Faenza, I often carried a book with me ‒ chosen to be donated to the company and to enrich what I affectionately called Mary Poppins’ “pink suitcase”. Among the many books, The Prophet by Kahlil Gibran was chosen by many of us.
MPA ‒ It is clear that customers and friends no longer expect a traditional approach from PRATI, but rather a meeting place for printers and producers — both at trade fairs and on company premises — where they can engage with a company that studies, listens and strives to understand their needs in order to provide concrete solutions.
D.B. ‒ I completely agree. This is demonstrated by the latest inspection and finishing machines, born from this shared journey. I am deeply grateful to Chiara and Annalisa [PRATI – ed.] for allowing me to bring this idea into the company. It shows how culture, listening and a love of knowledge are practical tools — just like the machines PRATI designs.
